If you've noticed sidewalks being constructed in several areas of the city recently, it's
because of the city-wide sidewalk construction program.
Our Sidewalk Program has substantially caught up with
established improved streets,
and
we're pleased to report that more than 95% of affected property owners have
completed the installation of their sidewalks. That's great compliance! The remaining
properties chose to have the city cause the construction of their sidewalks and have
all of the associated costs assessed upon their property.
Additionally, many property owners have already installed sidewalks ahead of their
scheduled construction date, resulting in improved safety for pedestrians, and they
look great too!
The program will now focus on properties located on newly improved streets (curbs and
gutters). The targeted areas during the coming years of the program will be
streets newly improved by the city..
- Please remember - Before construction begins a permit is required from City Hall (as part of this program the fees have been waived). Construction specifications and inspection services are provided by Public Works.
