Living and Working in Philomath

Philomath lies at the foot of the Marys Peak, the highest point along the Oregon Coast Range, less than an hour from the coast to the west, Salem to the north and Eugene to the south. It is less than 10 minutes from Corvallis, the OSU campus, Reeser Stadium - home of the Beavers, 20 minutes from Albany, and about 50 minutes to Newport, Eugene or Salem. You don't have to go far to find a wide variety of places to shop, airports, theatre and performing arts, museums, natural areas, and other attractions.

You don't need to leave the city to find beautiful areas to walk, bike or relax. The City Parks system consists of over 40 acres of developed playgrounds, walking trials and natural areas. Marys River Park is a natural treasure that includes walking/jogging trails, river access, swimming holes, an off-leash dog area, a redwood grove, camas fields, disc golf course, and a covered shelter and playground area.

Once a thriving timber town with 17 mills in operation, Philomath's industry has expanded to also include jobs in molecular engineering, wet labs, high speed internet, and even delivery robots! Philomath continues to attract business spin offs from OSU and local entrepreneurs that appreciate the close-knit community and small-town feel.

Philomath is growing, with new neighborhoods under construction and commercial and industrial developments popping up around town, it's an exciting time to be a part of the City. Living in Philomath, residents are active, love the outdoors and maintain a high quality of life. The community supports nearby OSU and its athletic teams that have brought excitement and pride on the national stage. Along with the advantages of higher education, Philomath features a strong public school system, great health care, and a short commute to work.
