Veterans Day Community Celebration

VETERANS DAY COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

Learn the remarkable history of enemy balloon bombs exploding in the Pacific Northwest during WWII and the courageous All-Black Paratrooper Battalion sent on a top-secret mission to Pendleton, Oregon, to destroy these bombs and suppress the wildfires they caused.

Dr. Robert Barlett is both a veteran and a retired college professor who has extensively studied the history of the Triple Nickles. He will share this extraordinary, little-known story of sacrifice, patriotism and service in a time of war.

5:30 PM - Doors open (view displays, grab snack/coffee, mingle)

6:00 PM - Veterans Memorial Induction program

6:20 PM - Quilts of Valor presentation to local veterans

6:50 PM - Intermission

7:00 PM - Jumping Into Fire - Triple Nickles Talk by Dr. Robert Bartlett

8:00 PM - Thanking JJ Corbett, the last living Triple Nickle

There is no charge for admission; however, we encourage everyone who attends to bring a canned food item that can be donated to the Philomath Food Bank.
