Affordable Homes for Philomath Residents
Welcome Home, Philomath
Coming soon to Philomath!
The Workforce Housing Philomath (WHP) project involves the development of a 19.2-acre site on the south end of Philomath, walking distance to all the schools, parks, downtown, and public transportation. This housing project will serve as the infusion needed to provide down-payment assistance to first-time homeowners and subsidize the purchase price of 150 townhouses. The units will range between 1200 and 2000 square feet, with two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, double-car garages, and private fenced backyards.
The WHP development also includes the creation of a two-acre public park complete with a playground, sports court, pavilion and picnic area, public restroom, and walking trail. The beautiful, well-designed homes, tree-lined streets and spacious park area will create a desirable neighborhood to live in. Most importantly, the public funding provided will directly offset the cost of purchasing the houses, making them affordable for workforce and middle-income families that currently cannot afford to purchase a home in Philomath. Teachers, firefighters, police officers, small-business owners, entrepreneurs, and more are currently unable to locate in town, making it difficult to attract these types of individuals and their supportive families to help build and strengthen our community.
This land is owned by Millpond Crossing, a housing development company that has entered a partnership with the City of Philomath to provide affordable housing. Construction is anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2025.
